Ghana Mission Trip 2026
The Ghana Missions Trip, March 2026, organized by Worldwide Community Outreach began with the arrival of a group of 17 participants in Accra, Ghana. The mission brings together individuals committed to outreach, cultural exchange, and community engagement throughout the country.
Among the participants were four members from SAAVI, joining the broader mission group for this meaningful journey with Acton Travel and Tours as the official logistics and media partners for travel coordination, on-ground logistics, and media coverage for the trip.
Arrival & Orientation
The team arrived at Kotoka International Airport in the early hours and completed arrival formalities before receiving a warm welcome. They were transported to their accommodation in Tse Addo, where they had time to rest and settle in after their journey.
Later in the day, an orientation session was held, led by Dr. Angela Bazemore Quaye and Brittany Jones. The session covered team assignments, local currency exchange, safety protocols, and an overview of the mission objectives.
In the afternoon, the group embarked on a light city orientation. They visited Woodin to explore Ghanaian fabrics and traditional prints, followed by a stop at Chocolate Sarayi to experience locally made chocolate products. The day continued with a visit to Labadi Beach, where participants relaxed and engaged informally.
Community Outreach – Accra
The day began with early morning outreach in a Ga community in collaboration with Living Stream International and SAAVI. Activities focused on healthcare delivery and education.
Health screenings were conducted for community members, alongside Community Health Evangelism (CHE) sessions. The team addressed key health concerns including hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and general preventive health awareness.
Materials and supplies, including screening items and educational resources, were distributed.
Volta Region Outreach & Training
The team departed Accra early for the Volta Region. Upon arrival, they engaged in outreach activities including Community Health Evangelism (CHE) training and an Albino Awareness Workshop.
The team visited the Nkyimkyim Museum before proceeding to Dzidzokope, where health screening and counseling sessions were conducted within the community.
Later in the day, the group participated in a cultural engagement session at Holy Trinity Spa & Health. Activities included a facility tour, an alligator pond experience, and a buffet dinner. The evening concluded with a traditional Bobobo dance performance.
Volta Outreach Continuation & Return
The morning began with continued health screening and counseling sessions in Dzidzokope. The team engaged further with community members, reinforcing key health education messages.
Following the outreach, the group began the return journey to Accra. Upon arrival, the focus shifted to media production, capturing volunteer reflections and documenting impact stories from beneficiaries.
Special Needs Outreach & Awards
The team visited Hope Setters Center, where activities focused on supporting individuals with special needs. Programs included therapy sessions, blindness support, behavioral guidance, and communication development.
An Autism Awareness program was conducted with presentations by SAAVI representatives. The engagement provided insight into inclusive care and support systems.
The day concluded with a recognition and awards ceremony held in Tema, Hotel Joecarl where caregivers were honored with plaques and financial support in acknowledgment of their work.
Church & Medical Outreach
We fellowshiped at Floodgate International Church in Amasaman. A sermon was delivered by a team member, while medical outreach activities, including eye screenings, were conducted for church members.
Following the service, the team had a buffet lunch at Alisa Hotel, providing an opportunity for relaxation and team bonding after the outreach activities.
Disability Outreach & Accra Experience
The team visited the Ghana Blind Union – Accra Rehabilitation Center and the Center for Employment of Persons with Disabilities. Activities included donations of assistive devices, laptops, and medical support, in collaboration with SAAVI.
Participants engaged directly with individuals, gaining insight into vocational training and rehabilitation efforts. Locally made handicrafts such as bags, clothing, and footwear were also showcased.
After the outreach, the team visited Accra Mall, where participants had time to explore, shop for souvenirs, and experience the commercial side of the city.
Healthcare Engagement & Conference
On this day, the team actively engaged with healthcare professionals at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, starting with the ASU Global Health Conference before proceeding to the TB Clinic.
In addition, they donated essential medical supplies, including gloves, masks, and sanitation items. The team also joined panel discussions, shared insights, and exchanged knowledge with local practitioners, strengthening collaboration and professional engagement.
Accra City Tour
To deepen their cultural experience, the team explored key historical and cultural sites across Accra. They began at the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, then continued with a drive through James Town.
Next, they visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to learn about Ghana’s independence history. Afterwards, the group moved to the Accra Arts Centre, where participants engaged in souvenir shopping and interacted with local artisans.
Finally, the tour concluded at Independence Square, where the team captured memorable photos at the iconic Black Star Gate.
Cape Coast Outreach & Exploration
The team made their first stop at the Cape Coast School for the Blind, where outreach activities and donations were carried out. Engagement with students and staff formed a key part of the experience, and canes were provided to support the visually impaired.
Afterwards, the group had lunch at Elmina Beach Resort. The day concluded with a visit to Kakum National Park, where participants experienced the canopy walkway.
Cape Coast Castle & Return Journey
The day began with breakfast at our accommodation, Royal Ridge Hotel, after which we checked out and continued to Cape Coast Castle, where an experienced guide led us through the history of the castle, before finally heading back to Accra.
Closing & Departure
To conclude the trip, the team spent time at the Department of Parks and Gardens Head Office in Accra, where they enjoyed a relaxed souvenir hunt while reflecting on their journey.
After that, they returned to their accommodation to prepare for departure. Acton Travel & Tours coordinated all logistics, ensuring a smooth and timely exit process.
The following morning, the team departed at 4:00 AM, bringing the mission trip to a successful and well-organized close.
